Install the Nightship client

The desktop client is how you follow channels, sync builds, and administer a server. It’s a per-user Windows install — no admin rights required.

Download

Get the Windows installer from the Downloads page and run it.

What gets installed

The client installs per-user into %LOCALAPPDATA%\Programs\Nightship, so it never asks for administrator rights. Alongside the client it places two command-line tools you’ll see referenced throughout these guides:

nightshipd.exe — the server binary, handy for a quick local server.
nightship-tide.exe — the Tide delta CLI, for pushing builds to object storage.

First run

The client runs from the system tray. From there you either add a server you already have a token for, or redeem an invite. Where to go next:

Drydock — spin up a complete local Nightship in one click, just to see it work.
Join a server with an invite — if a colleague sent you a code.
Quick local server — run the bundled server for a fast test.
